Securus Technologies offers a web-based communication platform that enables friends, family members, attorneys, and public officials to schedule and participate in video sessions with incarcerated individuals from any location with internet access, using devices like smartphones, computers, or tablets.
Interactive Project Manager
During this period, I enhanced project efficiency and ensured on-time delivery by providing guidance throughout the entire process, from the design of application cloud-based software to the development of comprehensive business and technical requirements (BRD and PRD). I fostered effective collaboration with internal teams and clients, collecting project requirements and establishing objectives in alignment with client needs.

The Project
The company operated approximately 10 major products, with my primary focus on developing and supporting coding efforts for the intranet and website. The intranet aimed to streamline departmental collaboration, incorporating features such as time management, a knowledge base, inter-departmental communication, and file management, which I oversaw while managing the work of one engineer. Additionally, the website focused on facilitating deposits and management of funds by friends and families for inmates to make phone calls.
Target Audience
The primary personas for the main offering were jail management officers and administration, whereas the extranet targeted friends and family members of inmates seeking to connect.
Competitors
Given the dominance of Securus in the market at the time and the limited presence of competitors, conducting competitor analysis was deemed unnecessary for the projects I was involved in.
User Insights
It became evident that employees, particularly those in the field, lacked access to support guides, marketing materials, and up-to-date product information. Furthermore, the company lacked a system to effectively manage projects and requests.
The Problem
As employees within the company, it was essential to ensure alignment on all projects and provide access to support materials. Additionally, requests were required to be managed by department heads with clear communication channels established.
The Solution
The solution involved developing a custom intranet platform that allowed each department to access tailor-made applications to fulfill their specific requirements. Utilized extensively for five years, it became the cornerstone of the company, predating the widespread adoption of other CMS tools.
