Lead Product Consultant
Brought in to refine the strategy amidst challenges within the existing team, I focused on realigning the team and restoring momentum. Managing the work of 2 senior PMs, 2 designers, and a team of 8 engineers on this project, alongside overseeing a second project, I successfully delivered an updated strategy and alignment that left the client satisfied and allowed the project to progress smoothly.
Deanne had the most thoughtful insights into our client’s needs and had an incredible combination of empathy, artfulness, and business sense to deliver a software product that provided a smooth end experience for the user. Clients love Deanne and will say that she “gets them.” She works hard and treats her client’s projects as her own. Clients fought to have Deanne on their projects and understandably so.

The Project
An internal legal tool that streamlines claimants' document submission and communication, significantly lowering the cost of managing internal teams.
Target Audience
As this was an internal tool, our attention was primarily directed towards two key user groups: the case workers responsible for information collection and the claimants themselves.
Competitors
In a competitive landscape where other products were technologically advanced, they struggled to adapt to new challenges posed by claimants, highlighting their limitations in meeting evolving needs and requirements.
User Insights
Claimants lacked a centralized platform to gradually enter their information over time, resulting in the need to provide it all at once or rely on reminders from their legal administrators. They often remained unaware of missing information or their progress within the process. Administrators faced challenges in obtaining information from claimants and keeping them updated on missing requirements, highlighting communication barriers as a significant obstacle.
The Problem
Perfected aimed to prioritize the development of a solution catering primarily to claimants rather than administrators. However, the project encountered significant complexity issues in gathering the necessary information for each claim, with the information architecture proving to be a major challenge.
The Solution
The initial approach entailed mapping out the client's true needs rather than solely addressing their requests, extending this methodology to the claimants. Subsequently, aligning stakeholders with short-term and long-term strategic goals was crucial. Recognizing that focusing solely on one form of tort limited scalability, an alternative solution was proposed, retaining most completed work while realigning the project for success. Mapping out the information architecture and implementing a customized workflow builder addressed most of the information architecture issues, facilitating the expedited release of version 2.
