Product Evolution Manager
During my tenure, I oversaw six products and a designer as the sole Product Manager initially. With growth, we expanded our team to include four product owners, enhancing focus across our portfolio. The project scope encompassed a management tool for instructors and administrators, assessment tools accessible via platform and mobile, a web application for student test purchases and management, along with several internal tools for our administration.
Deanne is passionate about developing a great product. She finds creative solutions to adding new features without adding unneeded complexity. She is eager to improve the users overall experience with each feature that she adds. When it comes to teaching me the skills needed to support in some of the projects, Deanne has also been incredible patient, responsive, and helpful.

The Project
The project involved developing a management tool for instructors and administrators to generate student assessments, assessment tools available on both platform and mobile devices, which ensured computer lockdown to minimize cheating. Additionally, it included a web application for students to make purchases and view schedules, alongside various internal tools for our administrative purposes.
Target Audience
The buyer personas primarily consisted of college or bar exam administrators seeking secure testing solutions. Users encompassed administrators, professors, exam administrators, and students involved in the testing process.
Competitors
Many competitors in the market were Learning Management Systems (LMS) attempting to cater to a broad range of needs without adequately addressing the key issues surrounding assessments.
User Insights
We initiated on-site visits nationwide, interviewing professors and students, and identified a pressing need for a simpler and fairer grading system. The existing grading methods were prone to bias and errors, leading to perceptions of unfair treatment among students and frustration among professors.
The Problem
ExamSoft aimed to expand into new markets beyond its predominantly law school and bar exam customer base, which primarily focused on open-ended questions. To penetrate medical schools and other college programs, which required a broader range of question types, a key focus area was grading clinical or practical exams critical for nursing and medical programs.
The Solution
The solution involved simplifying and making rubric grading more accessible. Collaborating with Antonia Levi, author of "Introduction to Rubrics," we transformed rubrics into a grading system akin to multiple choice, enabling fairer grading practices. This approach allowed professors to grade based on achievements in each category, providing students with a clear understanding of their scores and the opportunity to challenge if necessary.
